Hotbar Virus Removal

Hotbar is known under dozens of different names including Adware:Win32/Hotbar. In most cases the adware will have the name hotbar in it.

By it’s self hotbar is not malisious.  It is adware.  Once installed on a computer it will monitor the websites you visit and then target you for related ads.  So if you visit a website about boots, you may start seeing adds for boots and shoes.

In most cases the Hotbar toolbar is installed on your computer through bundled free software.  This happens most with torrent files/p2p downloads.  It is bundled with many game programs as well.  The reason those games are free is because you agreed to install the hotbar tool bar.  In many cases the person who bundles the hotbar adware into the software package is not clear with the downloader on what they are really installing.

The good news here is that this software is very easy to remove.  Here are a few things you can try out.

Step 1.  Go to the Add/Remove Programs Tool and uninstall hotbar.  Hit the Windows button > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs/Uninstall Section.  Browse down to hotbar and remove it.

Step 2. Open your web browser. You need to go to the addons section. Normally under Tools Menu.  Once in the addon section you can locate the hotbar toolbar and remove it or disable it.  Best to remove it all together. You will find that it may also be in the search bar section as your defauly search. This should be removed.

Another option for you is to re-set your web browser. This will restore your browser to it’s default settings and remove all add-ons and plugins. From there you can add back in what you want.

This software is not malicious in nature. It is adware.  The only thing you will notice from this client is a ton of ads and pop-ups.

We do strongly recommend you run a full virus scan.  If you installed this client un-willingly you may of also installed some other software on your computer.  We at removevirus.org recommend SpyHunter because it is great at detecting and stopping threats.
