Description: ThinkPoint AKA ( Think Point ) is a false security client that highjacks client computers and attempts to scare and trick he user into making a purchase. This is a virus and this scam is nothing new. In fact Think Point is related to several other rogue security clients out there including Red Cross Antivirus, Pest Detector, Peak Protection, Antispy Guard and Major Defense Kit.
Upon boot the users desktop does not show like normal instead you will get the bellow image showing. Once you select the only option on the screen a FAKE scan is done and the software tells you that you need to make a purchase of Thinkpoint
All the viruses that this program picks up are FAKE and again its used to trick users into making a purchase.

- hotfix.exe ( Most people will have this one )
- Install.exe
To stop this process you can browse to the file location and re-name the file like we did in the video above then reboot your computer and delete the above files. You may also be able to open up the Task Manager the very second you log into the computer and then terminate the above processes and delete them.
Windows XP:
- %Documents and Settings%\[UserName]\Local Settings\Application Data\hotfix.exe
Vista and Windows 7
- C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\hotfix.exe
ThinkPoint Directories:
Delete the following files
XP
- No Directories to delete
Windows 7 and Vista
- No Directories to delete
ThinkPoint Registry Removal Procedures
The following keys and settings should also be removed or modified from the Windows registry to complete ThinkPoint removal:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ NTCurrent\Version\Winlogon “Shell”
AT this time you should of been able to kill off most of this virus if not all of it. You now need to run a full virus scan. We recommend you download Spyware Doctor with Antivirus.
