What is AV Protection 2011?
AV Protection 2011 is a scam product. This type of a virus is called malware. Malware pretends to be a real program. It tricks users into making a purchase of the program. AV Protection 2011 will show you scan results like any anti-virus client would. Only with this product it's all a lie. The viruses detected are not real. What it's trying to do is make you think you have a virus to get you to purchase the program.
AV Protection 2011 is a clone of Cloud Protection, Av Guard Online, OpenCloud Security, OpenCloud Antivirus, BlueFlare Antivirus, Milestone Antivirus, Wireshark Antivirus, Sysinternals Antivirus, XJR Antivirus, AKM Antivirus 2010 Pro, Your PC Protector.
What makes AV Protection 2011 hard to remove is the end users web browser will be re-directing to advertisements and the product page to make a purchase of this client. It will also stop most executables from running. This means that many programs you have on your computer will not run, including Anti-virus software.

How Did I get infected with AV Protection 2011?
Like many malware programs this one is normally installed by the end user by mistake. They think it's an update or video software. Only after opening the file do they relize they have been infected. There are other ways to get this virus installed on your computer. Normally those who have up to date anti-virus clients are not effected as the security clients block these kinds of installs. However if your using a free antivirus program and got infected it's because no free anti-virus client on the market provides solid enough protection. That is why their is always a paid version of free programs.
What is AV Protection 2011 Doing to My Computer Right Now?
As already mentioned AV Protection will re-direct search and web results. To resolve this issue you can normally just re-set your web browser. Most people will simply need to re-set the proxy settings as shown in the video below and under our How To Guides section on top. Most programs will not be able to run. If you try to install an anti-virus client it will most likely be blocked. To get around this you can boot to safe mode with networking and download and install a anti-virus client.
It's important to mention that at this time the threat is not stealing user names and password. Your bank info and social profiles as well as e-mail should be just fine. I would still highly recommend you run a full virus scan once you follow our manual AV Protection 2011 removal guide just to make sure you are not infected with anything else. On this site we recommend Spyware Doctor with Antivirus.

The first step you must take in order to remove AV Protection 2011 is to stop the following process.
- AV Protection 2011.exe ( You file trace will be different. It's a random file name like 45546467k54.exe that will be on yout computer) See below for tips on finding this file.
Know File Path Locations
XP
-
C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Application Data\
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\ApplicationData\Local\Temp\
Vista / Windows 7: One of the below
- c:\users\[username]\AppData\local\
- C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\
- C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\
To Stop this process you can
A. Go to the file location shown above. Look for the file name. You can also sort by date. This will help you identify possible names of the threat and narrow things down. There may also be an icon next to the file that gives the threat away. Delete the file. Take note that you can sort the files by date and help rule out most files and folders. Chances are you will only have a few files that appear within the date range you first became infected. Keep in mind you may not be able to delete the file if it's active. However you should be able to re-name the file to whatever you want to call it. Then re-boot and delete the file. If you were in safe mode you should have no issues deleting the file.
B. Boot into Safe Mode and delete the file as shown above.
C: Use the Task Manager to find the location of the file and re-name it then delete after re-boot. Most people will have this disabled and not working. However some users can use it the very second you log into the operating system. You have about 4 seconds to locate the file before the Task Manager will close.
D: Log-into another users account and see if you can delete the file.
E: Start the Task Manager the very second you login and terminate the process that way.
The next step in AV Protection 2011 removal is to delete the following file. You NEED to re-boot your computer first if you re-named the file as you can not remove a file that is running. The above kind of already covered this.
If you are unable to find the Executable you need to delete then you should boot into safe mode with Networking and install the Spyware Doctor with Antivirus Client and run a full scan.
