Remove Smitfraud

Smitfraud, which is also referred to as W32/Smitfraud.A, is a malicious application that renders the system it is installed on almost useless. It is aimed primarily at promoting affiliated malicious software. Smitfraud reaches a user’s system through the installation of a number of adware processes. These adware processes get installed on the system by being downloaded along with a number of fake video codecs such as BrainCodec and PCodec. The above mentioned adware processes install Smitfraud without the knowledge or consent of the user.

Smitfraud constantly generates fake pop-ups and warnings telling the user that the computer is severely infected with malicious programs. It also generates the dreaded ‘blue screen’ in Windows and tells the user that the system is fatally infected. The solution that Smitfraud provides for all these fake problems is to download and install some affiliated rogue security programs such as Spyware Quake, Spylocked, Spydawn, SpyAxe and Spy Sheriff. If the user consents to the download and installation of one of these programs, the program will request the user to pay for its full version, consequently swindling the user’s money. Therefore it becomes evident that the primary objective of Smitfraud is to get the user to download and install its affiliate malware programs.

Because smitfraud is always mutating, there are no set manul removal options.  However, you can use several software programs to help remove Smitfraud from your computer.  Here are a listings of programs we hgihly recommend to help remove this threat from your computer.  we recommend you use all of them.
